Review from our friends for the hotel Nazos

Points: 1) Fab owner: I had simply booked a room indicating the time i'd arrive. He was enterprising to figure out that there is only one boat coming from Athens at the hour and was there to receive me at the port! Also... He dropped me off... All for free and with a big smile! 2) Location: Mykonos's mood as I see it is parties across the island and Little Venice - the white houses. Little venice is on a slope and great to look at, but staying in the alleys could get dingy. Also, being an alley place, its not got buses. Nazos.. Is just across the main road on the upper side of the hill from Little Venice... Meaning that you have a good view of the whole of little venice + the sea and you have great access to transport to explore the island. 3) Hotel design: It's done in the traditional Mykonos style and is very clean... A must stay.

The staff were very nice , kind and welcoming from the first time they met us at the airport. As for the hotel, it is a cosy place with an amazing view over Mykono's town in a great and very quiet area. We had easy access to the bus station and it is near the center. I really think that is an excellent choice.

Very friendly welcome. Nice family atmosphereCosy hotel owned by a very polite family, with very clean rooms (renovated bathrooms and daily towel changing), nice view, pretty fair price, next to town (5 min uphill walk from the center/2min from the bus station). Plus free routes from and to the port with Mr Nazos senior. I think it is excellent choise.

Everything was great.

Wonderful! Great Place, Great Family

First off, this hotel was GREAT! And I mean PERFECT for what we were looking for in Mykonos. This was my first trip to the island and I did not know what to expect. Well, let me tell you - the place is magical. An amazing experience that I hope to repeat many many times, and each time, you can be sure I will stay at Hotel Nazos. My partner and I had also visited Ibiza during that same trip and we had a horrendous experience with a hotel being dirty and not having air conditioning (as was advertised). The hotel in Ibiza refused to refund our credit card, and we refused to stay there. Because of this experience, when we got to Hotel Nazos, we refused to give our credit card before seeing the room we were to be given. Kalliope, the owner's mother, did not seem to understand why we were soo concerned, but she still immediately made it clear to us that she was prepared to go out of her way to accomodate us, however that may be. Apparently, the reason she did not understand our concern is because Hotel Nazos is not only clean, but has a "warm" atmosphere (with great air conditioning) and is well situatued directly outside the town so the guests are close to everything and still removed from the hustle and bustle of the Chora (Mykonos Town) nightlife. There is not a more perfect location in Mykonos, in my opinion. Clearly, Kalliope couldn't even imagine why we were concerned - because she knew already what we didn't yet know, which was that the hotel is a gem, and is operated by a wonderful charming and accomodating family. Furthermore, Kalliope and her husband Nikos are the kindest, warmest people you will meet while on this island. They love to chat with their guests, and they are very concerned to make sure that all of your needs are met and your questions are answered. I am still astounded by the level of service I recieved from this hotel.
The bottom line is that while Hotel Nazos is not a "luxury hotel", yet it is a truly luxurious experience in a place where luxury is not defined by 500 thread count sheets, but luxury is the richness of the culture that you will experience from the hearts of these native Mykonians. Luxury is location - on a hill with a beautiful view overlooking the bay. Luxury is going down to the bar in the morning and having a nice breakfast cooked for you by an amazing Greek woman who can tell you all about the island while you eat. If you stay at Hotel Nazos, you will get so much more than you pay for. Hotel Nazos defined my trip to Mykonos. See you again in August!!!

This family runned hotel is fabulous. Where do I start. The family was very wonderful to both my wife and I. They were kind and very courteous. George was more than helpful with any questions or accomodation request we had.
The rooms are kept very excellent, clean and top notch.
This trip will be forever remember, as had it not been for our special friends at Nazos hotel, our trip would not have been as awesome and memorable as it was.
George, thank you and your family and your friends for allowing us to feel right at home in our home at Nazos hotel.
This hotel and the family that owns it. they are Ola Kala!!!
George tell the bike i miss it very much. I will get better at backgammon and then I challenge the master for his title.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you and your family did for us to make your mykonos My Mykonos ...

Thank you so much for making our trip to Mykonos one of the most memorable times of our lives. You and your family were most accomadating and we will definitely be recommending your hotel to our friends and family. The location was close to everything and we were able to see the best of Mykonos within our short 2 day visit. I hope that in the coming years we are lucky enough to come back and spend more time at your hotel! This the first family run hotel we have stayed at, where we truly felt at home.

For anyone reading this, just to give you an idea of how the Nazos family treats you as their own: Just before arriving in Mykonos I had an allergic reaction that caused my face to become so dry that I could barely talk. Within 5 minutes of checking in, George was so concerned, he insisted on taking me the hospital right away. Not only did he drive me there, he stayed there with my husband and I until my treatment was complete. He went above and beyond, and I am forever grateful!

Thank you Giorgos!

George, member of this family hotel pick up us at the port at midnight, on the first day of our 3 days trip in Mykonos without any issue. After 3 minutes, we were at the hotel and we got a really clear briefing of how to survive in this city.

We had a wonderful experience with George during these 3 days, he has invited us for free to his family lamb party and we have discovered a lot of the Greek history, story and culture with him.

After a coffee competition and having trying many local drinks at the local bar, we had the feeling of not being only a guest but a good friend of him. The hotel is small, very quiet, and we got a large room with a perfect view on Mykonos (a must...see picture) We have tried many hotels on different Island and the quality of the room reflect perfectly what we expected to get. (Comfortable bed, fridge, conditioned air, etc)

We had a lot of fun at hotel Nazos and we wish to come back one day!

NB: If you plan to visit this Island, I recommend you to rent a quad and visit the small village.

--------------

We were the other couple that traveled with jaxel (see his excellent review posted Sep 19, 2008 where you can also read about our adventures just trying to get to Mykonos). The family was very charming, and it was George who gave us an excellent rundown on where to go, what to see, some basic Greek vocabulary and introduced us to Mastic liqueur.

Our room had a wonderful view of Mykonos town. The room was comfortable, the balcony spacious, and the shower was, well, a little small. But that was true of most of the showers on our trip. The walk into town was short and downhill, meaning it was uphill on the way back, but not too bad as the sidewalk had steps to make things easier.

--------------

To explain why we found Hotel Nazos so charming, it is best to describe our first 15 minutes in Mykonos. The hotel is nice and fairly priced, but it's the family that makes this place excellent; from the grandchildren working at the breakfast bar to Nikos the grandfather(architect) who built the hotel.

We were 2 couples traveling in Europe for our anniversaries. After a long day of traveling and many false starts at the Athens Airport our plane ended up being combined with another flight to a different island and left at 11PM. Our wives were a bit... um, let's call it "worn out and hungry" from sitting at the airport waiting for 8 hours. All they wanted to do was get some sleep at this point. This day was ending up to be a lost day and us husbands who planned the trip weren't exactly scoring any romantic points on the first day in Greece.

...then we finally land in Mykonos at midnight. Upon stepping out of the plane I give George Nazos one last quick call to say we've finally arrived. We quickly grabbed our bags and George was already waiting for us outside. We were warmly greeted and he was very helpful. It took only a minute to get down to the hotel at Greek speed and in that short time, George had somehow managed to turn everything around for us. All of a sudden our wives were excited and ready to go out to dinner and see the town. He had them laughing and us husbands relieved. :-) We were worried about getting some food for our wives and he jokingly said "well at this hour it's not so easy, you'll only find 50-60 restaurants open." He was right, Mykonos was alive and the energy woke us all up. He quickly got us settled and gave us all the info we needed, including a map with personalized directions, etc. Everyone was now more than happy to get out and experience this place. My new friend George erased the entire day and made us husbands so thankful to have chosen this hotel.

This town is amazing and the hotel, while a bit above the main part of town, has a great view in many directions. Old town is only a short walk down the hill if you're in good enough shape. For us it was nice to have a refuge just outside the craziness of Chora (old town).

This island is Greece, the one you saw on posters as a kid. The Nazos family is Greece. Proud and friendly.

Anytime we had questions the family was there to help. George even connected us with someone and helped book our day trip to Delos and then our Flying Cat reservations to Santorini.

When visiting Mykonos Town, you shouldn't be looking for a hotel where you will hang out by the pool, you're looking for a comfortable place to rest. We emailed the hotel directly ahead of time and booked rooms with balconies. The view was great. The rooms were clean and simple. The only thing I noticed that someone might complain about is the size of the shower if you're on the heavier side. Perhaps it was only our room.

Nikos Nazos has a great family and a great establishment. We look forward to visiting them again and seeing our new old friends.
